Park Smart: Terrain Park Safety
M – Make a Plan
A – Always Look
R – Respect
T – Take it Easy
The Dodge Ridge Terrain Parks are built for fun, creativity, and progression, but every feature comes with real risk. Whether you’re learning your first 180 or perfecting a rail slide, understanding park etiquette and terrain safety helps keep everyone riding another day.
Ride SMART
Dodge Ridge follows the NSAA SMART Style program for freestyle-terrain awareness:
S — Start Small: Build skills and confidence before moving to larger features.
M — Make a Plan: Scope the park and plan your line every run.
A — Always Look: Before you drop in, check that the feature and landing zone are clear.
R — Respect: Give others space, wait your turn, and keep the park flowing.
T — Take it Easy: Know your limits and ride within them.
Park Etiquette & Best Practices
- Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders using our terrain parks and freestyle terrain.
- Terrain parks are designed for intermediate to expert ability levels unless otherwise posted.
- Always inspect features before use. Conditions, lips, and landings change throughout the day. Report anything that is broken or damaged to our Terrain Park Staff.
- Never stop in a landing zone or on the blind side of a feature.
- Keep your buddy in sight and signal before dropping in.
- Yield to riders already in motion.
- Carry out any trash or gear and help keep the park clean.
- Respect closures and rope lines. If a feature is closed, it’s closed for a reason.
Warning: Entering a closed feature or crossing a closed rope line can result in losing your pass.
Park Signage & Difficulty Levels
What does our signage mean?
Look for orange oval signs on any of our resort maps! They mark designated Freestyle Terrain areas.
Inside each area, you’ll see feature difficulty indicators (extra small, small, medium, large). These indicate the relative size and technical level of the park features, not your skiing or riding ability.
Each park or feature is labeled by size to help you choose the right progression.
Conditions and feature setups change daily. Check the current park status before entering.
Know the Code
Freestyle terrain users are expected to follow and know: Your Responsibility Code, maintain control at all times, and ride with awareness of others.
